A two-day long Active Distribution Network Management course was successfully delivered this week by visiting Professor, Sami Repo.
Professor Sami Repo from Tampere University of Technology in Finland, is currently visiting Centre for Electric Power and Energy (CEE), at DTU Department of Electrical Engineering, for a period of six weeks. He has been collaborating with CEE for quite some years. Among other things he was the project leader of the EU FP7 IDE4L project in which CEE was a partner. The objective of his stay is to further strengthen the collaboration with CEE and DTU. During the stay, Professor Sami Repo will give a course on active distribution network management, conduct joint research on combining dynamic tariff with the tertiary control of distribution networks, and look into the possibility to make a new EU application.
The two-day course on Active Distribution Network Management was held on August 21st – 22nd, 2017. In the course, Professor Sami introduced and discussed decentralized automation of electricity distribution network at conceptual, implementation and functional levels. The course was based on the outcomes of the EU FP7 demonstration project IDE4L “Ideal grid for all", which ended earlier this year with great results and eminent reviews from the European Commission.
The aim of the course is to provide an overview of recent developments and demonstrations in decentralized distribution network automation and its applications. It provides also an opportunity to re-think how distribution grids should be planned and operated during coming decades.
The main parts of presentations were given by Professor Sami Repo, while Dr. Shaojun Huang from CEE presented the dynamic tariff concept developed by DTU in the IDE4L project.
