Facts about EcoGrid 2.0

EcoGrid 2.0 is a development and demonstration project

EcoGrid 2.0 is a successor to the EcoGridEU project, and re-uses previously installed equipment for control and management of electric heating and heat pumps

Project timeframe: 3 1⁄2 years (January 2016 to June 2019)

Budget: DKK 98 million

Project owner: Danish Energy Association
EcoGrid 2.0 is a smart grid demonstration project in Denmark remotely controlling 1,000 heat pumps and electric radiators in private households on the island of Bornholm in an attempt to optimize their power consumption. On 14 March partial results will be revealed and demonstrated.

EcoGrid 2.0 develops and demonstrates a market for flexible use of electricity in private homes. The island of Bornholm including 1000 of its households is test-zone for the project due to its demographic and infrastructure that equals the Danish conditions in a 1:100 scale.

Center for Electric Power and Energy at DTU Elektro is proud to be part of the project developing technological solutions and bringing the newest research to the table.

Join the demonstration event

On 14 March partial results will be presented at a demonstration event at Danish Energy Association who is the project owner. People from academia and industry are most welcome to join the free event to hear about the project's visions, see results demonstrated and contribute to a discussion on flexible demand.

Sign up for the workshop here (workshop is in Danish apart from two program items)
