Innovative Approaches for Secure Operation of the Future Electricity Transmission System

In relation to the completion of the SOSPO R&D project (www.sospo.dk ) a 2 times half a day event aimed at audience from industry (TSO‘s and manufactures) and academia will be arranged on the 15th-16th of March 2016. The event is arranged as a 2 times half a day event to enable participants from abroad to fly in to Copenhagen in the morning of day 1, and fly back home in the afternoon of day 2 and still being able to attend the scheduled activities.

On the event you can learn more about several ongoing international R&D projects that aim at development of new innovative approaches to ensure a secure operation of the future power systems. Furthermore, demonstration sessions of results for the SOSPO research project will be carried out at the state –of-the-art laboratory facilities PowerLabDK (www.powerlab.dk), at CEE-DTU

Day 1 (15th of March): Ongoing R&D activities focusing on new tools for secure system operation

13:05        Presentation of ongoing international R&D projects focusing R&D of

                 new innovative tools for secure system operation.

15:15        Demonstration of methods for wide-area stability and security

                 assessment, counter measures and visualization in real-time in PowerLabDK’s

                 control room.

16:15        Panel discussions  -  The future outlook for needed approaches to

                 ensure secure system operation  

17:00        closing remarks for day I (end of the presentation and demonstration

                 session)

19:00        Dinner and networking for participants, location determined later

 

Day 2 (16th of March): Ongoing R&D activities focusing on new tools for secure system operation

         – real-time assessment of
security and stability:

  • Early warning  in real-time for the DK-SW 2003 blackout
  • Voltage stability assessment in real-time
  • N-1 static security assessment in real-time
  • Dynamic  security assessment

10:20         Parallel demonstration tracks

                    – wide area countermeasures in real-time:

  • real-time countermeasures against the DK-SW 2003 blackout

  • Wide-area emergency control to avoid system instability

  • Wide-area presumption control to re-establish system security

11:20        Informative visualization of system state  – Demonstration in

                  control room.

12:00        Closing remarks and end of event.
