multiDC Demostration Event

The multiDC project and the Technical University of Denmark have the pleasure to invite you to the multiDC Demonstration Event on September 19, 2019 at DTU in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The event will include keynote talks, presentations about state-of-the-art research, live demonstrations and a panel discussion.

The focus is on the North Sea Wind Power Hub, the European vision for constructing artificial islands in the North Sea to tap the 180 GW of offshore wind potential, and the optimal coordination of HVDC interconnections to transmit bulk renewable power across Europe.

Main topics will be:

- What are the challenges moving towards a zero-inertia AC and HVDC grid ?
- What is the required technology and control schemes? And are current tools sufficient to design such a grid?
- How can HVDC help minimize the cost of reserves?
- How can we integrate HVDC in the electricity market?
- Four live demonstrations will take place in PowerlabDK, including the live demonstration of the Kriegers Flak HVDC Master Controller, the first interconnection in the world that integrates offshore wind farms. Other demonstrations will focus on the impact of synchronous condensers on a 100% converter dominated system, advanced HVDC control for sharing reserves, and highlighting the limitations of RMS vs EMT simulation tools in a zero inertia system.

During the day discussions over lunch break and cocktail reception will facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences in integrating large shares of renewables over HVDC lines and grids.

You can find more information about the project here: www.multi-dc.eu . Registration for the event is open until September 6, please sign up here: https://tilmeld.events/MultiDC/the-event.html. We are looking forward to welcoming you at DTU Lyngby on Thursday, September 19, 2019! Please join us for exciting discussions on upcoming challenges and state-of-the-art solutions!
