EnergyLab Nordhavn pointed out as best-case in public-private partnerships promoting and working towards achieving the global goals for sustainable and clean energy.
Innovative public-private partnerships, international cooperation and knowledge sharing was top of the agenda when representatives from Danish and American business and universities, as part of the Climate Week NYC, met at a panel discussion in New York Tuesday 20 September. The panel discussion titled ‘promoting Innovative Energy Partnerships’ was part of the conference ‘Urban Innovation for Livable Cities’ hosted by the Confederation of Danish Industry.
From EnergyLab Nordhavn Project Manager Christoffer Greisen participated in the panel discussion together with representatives from Rambøll, Con Edison, NYSERDA and Danish Energy Management & Esbensen.
With the Sustainable Development Goals in mind the importance of international partnerships and not least the political will to focus on local energy projects was in focus. EnergyLab Nordhavn was one in five cases and following a short presentation round issues such as public-private partnerships, the role of legislators as well as community engagement were discussed.

To accomplish that it is essential that we share best-practice, cooperate internationally and see the strength and possibilities in public-private partnerships”, says Christoffer Greisen, Project Manager, EnergyLab Nordhavn.

The project “EnergyLab Nordhavn – new urban energy infrastructures” will develop and demonstrate future energy solutions. The project utilizes Copenhagen’s Nordhavn as a full-scale smart city energy lab and demonstrates how electricity and heating, energy-efficient buildings and electric transport can be integrated into an intelligent, flexible and optimized energy system. The project participants are: DTU, City of Copenhagen, CPH City & Port Development, HOFOR, DONG Energy, ABB, Balslev, Danfoss, CleanCharge, METRO THERM, Glen Dimplex and the PowerLab facilities. The project is supported by EUPD (Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme) and runs from 2015-2019.
