DTU's Introductory Projects can bring you to places of action!

Eg. to the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup Copenhagen 2015:

 

3 of the Electronics Group's BSc students, Chris Cornaby, Jeppe Friberg, and Nikolaj B. Søndergaard have in their introductory project developed an innovative electrical kayak ergometer with a view to better simulation of the resistance of the paddle through the water in order to improve the training possibilities of the competitive sports, of fitness, and of rehabilitation.

 

Furthermore, the amount of electrical energy produced by the oarsman is accumulated - the electrical energy that would otherwise be wasted as heat.

The energetic effort in the introductory project culminated in a demo setup at the newly held ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup Copenhagen 2015 at Bagsværd Lake on Saturday 30 May.

 

The electrical kayak ergometer was set up in an activity area next to the stands - the demo setup was part of a "Science Corner" and our students got great response from the professional oarsmen from many countries - as well as positive response from the enthusiastic audience.

 

At the same time the supervisors of the project also being discussed collaboration with athlete students from Aalborg University, physiotherapists from Team Danmark as well as the manufacturer of the kayak ergometer DanSprint.

 

The DTU students and their supervisors were easy to find as they were surrounded by DTU beach flags.
