The Automation and Control Group stand welcomed visitors with a variety of devices during the Open House event

Each semester DTU opens its gates to everyone that wants to know more about the university’s study areas or its latest technological discoveries. Representatives from every DTU department participate in the event to talk about their work. The Automation and Control group was also present, showing off some devices from our ongoing projects.

Visitors could drive the already known Guidebot or its younger brother, the Field Robot, using a gamepad. The children especially enjoyed doing this, some of them even trying to run away with the robots.

A few plastic pots were used to simulate tracks from the World Championship in Field Robot, which took place in Bernburg, Germany, 17-19 June 2014 . People could see on a screen the map created with the laser scanner in order to navigate through the obstacles.

Visitors also enjoyed watching the newest robot in the family, a hexapod, intended to be used in underwater pipes maintenance.

Many tried their skills at the games on Centre for Playware’s modular interactive tiles and customised the music played by the Magic Cubes.
