The Danish National Committee for Wind Energy Generation Systems celebrated their 30 years anniversary earlier this week. Head of Department at DTU Wind Energy, Peter Hauge Madsen, is chairman for the committee.

The Danish National Committee for Wind Energy Generation Systems celebrated their 30-year anniversary last Wednesday, August 28th 2019. The committee is part of Danish Standard.

Head of Department at DTU Wind Energy, Peter Hauge Madsen is chairman for the Danish committee, that now consists of more than 190 members from the entire wind energy industry. Peter Hauge Madsen has been chairman since the beginning of the committee, 30 years ago.

“30 years ago, the Danish wind energy industry was immature and an industry in a crisis. The wind energy industry was in desperate need of a quality boost. From the very beginning, we saw how new standards and certification was a great way to do so. Today, we have most definitely succeeded thanks to every one working within the wind energy industry and the members in the Danish Standardisation Committee,” he says.

The industry assembled

From the begging, the purpose of The Danish National Committee for Wind Energy Generation Systems was to unite the entire wind energy industry, which together should prepare and common standard for wind turbines. Since then, over 30 standards have been created.

In addition to DTU Wind Energy, the Danish Energy Agency, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, Ørsted, COWI, HOFOR, Vattenfall and Aalborg University are also represented on the committee.
