The Polish Acoustical Society invited acousticians from all over the world to participate in the 7th Forum Acusticum in Krakow, Poland. The close collaboration between the two groups meant that both the Hearing Systems Group and Acoustic Technology Group at DTU Elektro were well represented at the conference.
The Polish Acoustical Society was pleased to invite acousticians from all over the world to participate in the 7th Forum Acusticum in Krakow, Poland. The conference which is held every three years and organized by the European Acoustics Association, provides the opportunity for acousticians from all over the globe to meet and discuss recent advances in their fields of interest. The conference this year was held from 07 to 12 September 2014 at the AGH University of Science and Technology. The conference venue was located in the centre of Krakow, a city where tradition meets modernity, and where the care for centuries-old heritage is accompanied by the development of modern technologies.
Forum Acusticum 2014 is organized by the Polish Acoustical Society as a main event of the European Acoustics Association and co-organized one of the major and most well-attended psychological and physiological acoustics sessions on the topic of binaural hearing, chaired by Tobias May from the Hearing Systems Group, DTU, together with Professor Jens Blauert from Bochum University. The conference featured a large, broad program including key-note lectures, invited and contributed papers in structured parallel sessions, workshops and poster presentations. There were also extensive technical expositions highlighting latest advances in products for all fields of acoustics.
"Forum Acusticum is a good opportunity to get some feedback and hear about what else is done within my field"
Gerd Høy Marbjerg
Representatives from the Acoustic Technology Group, Jonas Brunskog, Cheol-Ho Jeong, Gerd Høy Marbjerg, Alba Granados Corsellas and David Svensson, attended the Forum Acusticum 2014, where 6 representatives from the ACT Group presented papers. Alba Granados Corsellas, who's interests lay in "Voice Production", presented her paper entitled "Finite element modeling of the vocal folds with deformable interface tracking". A field relevent to the second part of her PhD project, enabled her the opportunity to discuss both vocal tract modeling and image processing techniques with a participating research team.
Gerd Høy Marbjerg presented two papers the first was entitled ‘Description and validation of a combination of acoustical radiosity and the image source method’. This was presented in the session EMERGING COMPUTATIONAL ROOM ACOUSTIC METHODS. The second paper was entitled ‘Modelling classroom conditions with different boundary conditions’ and was presented in the session CLASSROOM ACOUSTICS:
"It was relevant for me to be present at Forum Acusticum because it was a good place to get some feedback on my work. It is also a good opportunity to hear about what else is done within my field,"Gerd Høy Marbjerg says.
The Hearing Systems group contributed with 10 papers including 7 talks : Alexandre Chabot-Leclerc, Christoph Scheidiger Henrik Gert Hassager, Jens Cubick, Johannes Käsbach, Johannes Zaar, Sébastien Santurette and 3 poster presentations: Federica Bianchi, Gusztav Locsei, Suyash Narendra Joshi .
