You are hereby invited to a seminar on Active distribution Network with Big Data Integration and Wind Power Integration in Industrial Area. The seminar is connected to the visit of a Chinese delegation to DTU, who are project partners of the Sino-Danish collaboration “PROActive INtegration of sustainable energy resources enabling active distribution networks (PROAIN)”. The project is co-financed by Chinese Ministry of Science & Technology and Danish Council for Strategic Research.
10:10-10:40 Active Distribution Network and Big Data,
by Dr. Guangyi Liu, CEPRI
Abstract: In his talk, Dr. Guangyi Liu will present a systematic overview of active distribution network (AND) with six key elements, i.e., active planning, active management, active control and active service from the grid side, active participation of the customers, and active adaption of the distributed renewables. In order to achieve these six active elements, multi-sources data are needed. As an ideal technology to process the multi-sources data, big data will help ADN to achieve its goals. The potential use scenarios are also identified and discussed in the talk.
Bio: Dr. Guangyi Liu is the VP of State Grid Research Institute in North America, the director and chief engineer of smart grid operation research center of China Electric Power Research Institute. He received his bachelor, master and Ph.D degrees from Harbin Institute of Technology and China Electric Power Research Institute in 1984, 1987 and 1990, respectively. His research interests include Energy Management System (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS), electricity market, smart grid, autonomic power system, active distribution network and application of big data in power system.
10:50-11:20 How to consume wind power by industrial load: model, control and testing bed,
by Dr. Jin Lin, Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University
Abstract: We discuss an actual isolated power system which use aluminum smeltering load of 1400 MW and coal-fired power plants to consume over 800 MW wind power in Inner Mongolian. This presentation includes how to use field testing data to build up the system model and the AGC design. We also introduce a novel MPC control philosophy – Explicit MPC which enables the AGC control law calculated offline with many more conveniences for system operators when put into practice. At last, a Power Hardware-In-Loop testing bed is designed to test the frequency regulation capacity of wind power which is an extended technology from the development of the wind power system.
Bio: Dr. Jin Lin was born in 1985. He received the Bachelor and Ph.D. degrees from Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, China in 2007 and 2012, respectively. He was a visiting student in Risø DTU in 2009. Now he is a Lecturer (Tenure-track) in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University. His research interests are in grid integration technology of wind power and power system simulation technology. He is the member of IEEE and committee member of CSEE. He has published over dozens of papers in IEEE Transactions and PES conferences.
