Electric Vehicles and the Smart Grid

Potential for Cheaper, Greener Energy

Nikola Project – Half-Way Seminar

The electric vehicle has a special potential in supporting a cost-efficient and secure power system with a high degree of renewable energy. Nikola taps into this potential by investigating the various ways in which the charging and discharging of an electric vehicle can be controlled in order to benefit the Danish power system.

For the consumer, this synergy between the EV and the Smart Grid will potentially result in vastly reduced charging costs, which will strengthen the EV’s competitiveness compared to gasoline and diesel cars.

The seminar will present fresh results from the project to inform and, perhaps, inspire the participants. At the same time the seminar is meant to encourage cooperation with the participants and feedback that may benefit the project. In the afternoon, the custom built electric vehicles developed by the project will be exhibited and used in a number of live Smart Grid demonstrations.

A detailed program will follow.

We hope to see you at Risø in November.
