A ‘Life and death’ battle was on the cards when the
Automation and Control Group from
DTU Electrical Engineering organized DTU RoboCup for students with a (un)healthy penchant
for technology and autonomous robots.
Autonomous robots, cheering owners and a fight to the finish. This year’s DTU RoboCup final was held in the DTU Library on Lyngby Campus. In the final 14 teams raced along a course that featured bends, gates, a guillotine, an inclined section, a flight of stairs and many other obstacles.

Chemical engineer Kim Clausen won DTU RoboCup 2014 with his robot "Hvem der? John der!".
Seeing that Kim's robot bears a striking resemblance to a John Deere tractor, the name is a play on words: "Who's there? John's Der(e)!"

DTU RoboCup and robots
First introduced in 1997, DTU RoboCup is now a popular annual event at DTU. Participants hail from DTU’s own student ranks as well as those outside the university.
The aim is to guide your robot past as many obstacles as possible to claim honour, glory and cash prizes.
Robots are expected to play an important role in future society as they become better at handling unfamiliar situations, understanding their surroundings and acting accordingly.
