On 22 May, HE Ambassador Rufus Gifford (US) visits DTU and PowerLabDK

As a part of his visit to DTU and talks with the rectorate, we had the pleasure to welcome HE Ambassador Rufus Gifford (US) to PowerLabDK.

During the visit, Project Manager of the EnergyLab Nordhavn project Christoffer Greisen explained the overall goals of the project, how it links up to specific aspects of the Danish Energy system, and what kind of solutions and services the project aims at developing. Software Developer Jacob Zimmermann demonstrated how we work with Demand as Frequency Controlled Reserve, and explained how this service has been demonstrated in 200 cooling units as part of the EcoGrid project on Bornholm.

EnergyLab Nordhavn

Over the next four years the project EnergyLab Nordhavn – new urban energy infrastructures will develop and demonstrate future energy solutions. The project utilizes Copenhagen’s Nordhavn as a full-scale smart city energy lab and demonstrates how electricity and heating, energy-efficient buildings and electric transport can be integrated into an intelligent, flexible and optimized energy system.

The project participants are: DTU, City of Copenhagen, CPH City & Port Development, HOFOR, DONG Energy, ABB, Balslev, CleanCharge, METRO THERM, Glen Dimplex and the PowerLabDK facilities. The project is supported by EUPD (Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme).
