Center for Electric Power and Energy is pleased to announce that the 4th DTU CEE Summer School (16-21 June 2019) is now open for applications. The focus of this summer school will be on "Data-driven analytics and optimization for energy systems".
Center for Electric Power and Energy invite PhD and MSc students, postdocs and researchers in industry to submit their applications by March 15, 2019 through our webpage: http://www.energy-markets-school.dk/
DTU CEE Summer School 2019 brings together academics and industry professionals from around the world, in an intensive 5-day course, where they learn about the latest developments in data-driven optimization and methods for energy systems, connect, and exchange ideas. Distinguished lecturers from the US and Europe, excelling both in research and teaching, are invited to give 4-hour lectures both providing the fundamentals and introducing advanced topics in their field. Every lecture will be followed by a 2-hour hands-on exercise session.
The topics that the DTU CEE Summer School 2019 will cover are:
- “A Marketplace for Data”, Munther Dahleh (MIT)
- “The Opportunities and Challenges of Mathematical Optimization for Data Science”, Dolores Romero Morales (Copenhagen Business School)
- “Data‐Driven Distributionally Robust Optimization”, Johanna Mathieu (University of Michigan)
- “Data‐Driven Optimization in Power Systems”, Andrea Simonetto (IBM Ireland)
- “Introduction to Statistical and Machine Learning”, Hélène Le Cadre (VITO/EnergyVille)
- “Data‐Driven Control in Power Distribution Grids”, Saverio Bolognani (ETH Zurich)
- “Data‐Driven Methods for Power System Security Assessment”, Spyros Chatzivasileiadis (DTU)
- “Statistical and Machine Learning for Forecasting”, Pierre Pinson (DTU)
- “Distributed Optimization”, Jalal Kazempour (DTU)
Registration
The applicants are invited to submit a motivation letter by March 15, 2019 via our website: http://www.energy-markets-school.dk/
The successful applicants will be informed by March 22, and requested to complete the registration process by April 10, 2019. The goal of this motivation letter (2 pages at most) is to ensure that the scientific level of summer school will be high, and this event will be eventually fruitful for all participants.
In addition, we have two MOSEK scholarships, and the awardees will be eventually selected based on motivation letters. Please note that the awardees will be announced during the event, so all successful applicants are expected to complete the registration process by April 10. The registration fee of awardees will be reimbursed after the event.
Practical information
We are looking forward to welcoming you at DTU!
DTU CEE Summer School started as an initiative of the Energy Analytics & Markets (ELMA) group of Center for Electric Power and Energy (CEE) in 2016. Sponsored by Mosek ApS, EES-UETP, and the CITIES project, the last three summer schools 2016-2018 have been widely successful. Attracting about 55 attendees each year and with distinguished invited lecturers from the US and Europe, they fully covered the attendees’ expectations. Summer school 2018 received a very positive feedback by all participants. 100% of the participants would recommend DTU CEE summer school to others.
