Description
The world energy demand is in constant increase while reducing emissions and mitigating the environmental impact of human activities is now more important than ever before. The change from centralized energy production in large power plants to energy systems with an increasing share of distributed energy resources requires technologies for implementing production-controlled demand in replace of of today's demand-controlled production. In this context, users’ adaptation in future energy systems is a promising technology which this research project is focused on.
The research activity will interest strategies for direct control of devices at customer side, including probabilistic approaches, dynamic optimization and run-time scheduling. Challenges related to the design of control strategies for home energy management include the definition of models for appliances, household consumption, tenants’ behavior, and quality of service. The integration and harmonization of different policies in the same control framework is among the most interesting theoretical challenges related to this project, while the challenges of real-world implementation in SYSLAB and Power FlexHouse include the design and the implementation of interfaces between the appliances and the home energy management platform.
This research is financed by iPower, a project within the Danish Strategic Platform for Innovation and Research within Intelligent Electricity.
